We adopt the Esalen approach toward the whole person, seeking connections and integration rather than individually addressing disjointed parts of the body.  This type of body work is widely effective whether you seek pain relief, sports massage, energy release, or stress reduction.  Esalen Massage is a particularly relaxing type of massage, as the body releases into its natural state of being and wholeness.
Our approach to body work reflects the benefits of training at Esalen -- we treat the whole person, not an isolated muscle group, pain location, or body part.  We draw on any or all of the various modalities in which we have been trained to treat each person as an individual, with special attention to the needs of the individual 
Esalen Massage® is a massage technique that is effective on three levels:
Slow, flowing and integrated strokes open a sense of ease in the recipient, while specific deeper tissue strokes release tension
Passive joint movements reaffirm the sensation of spaciousness in the body
A supportive relation between client and practitioner encourages the recipient to consciously sense into himself, resulting in a fuller breath and a deeply energized and relaxed state.
Esalen Massage® is also characterized by several qualities on the part of the practioner:
A massage is an opportunity to work WITH a client, rather that ON a client
A key element of all Esalen Massage® is a focus on working with the client's breath
An Esalen Massage® practioner is  completely present with his/her client
Esalen Massage® encompasses many levels of conceptual understanding interwoven with tactile sensitivity, elegant awareness, and heartfelt communication
