Alpine Valley is Europe's most ambitious deep-tech startup accelerator. A 6-week nonprofit residency program at a 17th-century baroque castle in Austria. What Makes Alpine Valley Different
- Truly nonprofit. No equity, no fees, no strings. We are not a fund. We are not looking for returns. We exist to accelerate deep-tech founders at the earliest stage.
- Deep tech only. We focus exclusively on founders building in the physical world — biotech, robotics, defense, space, MedTech, construction, and physical AI. No SaaS. No marketplaces. No ad-tech.
- Immersive residency. Founders live and work together at Schloss Drosendorf for six uninterrupted weeks. No distractions. No commuting. Just building.
- Pre-seed stage. You can be pre-idea, pre-team, or pre-product. If you're a technical founder with the ambition to build something that matters, you belong here.
- European by design. We believe Europe has world-class technical talent that's underserved by existing accelerator infrastructure. Alpine Valley is built to change that.
The Location: Schloss Drosendorf
A 17th-century baroque castle in the Waldviertel region of Lower Austria, approximately 2 hours north of Vienna. The castle is surrounded by forest and sits at the edge of a medieval walled town. For six weeks, it becomes your workshop, your home, and your launchpad.
The setting is deliberate. We believe that removing founders from their everyday environment — placing them somewhere extraordinary — unlocks a different mode of thinking. You're not in a WeWork. You're in a castle. Act accordingly.

What Happens During the 6 Weeks
- Live and work alongside 23 other founders in an immersive residential environment
- Build your prototype with uninterrupted focus time
- Find co-founders from the cohort or the broader Alpine Valley network
- Receive mentorship from experienced deep-tech founders, engineers, and operators
- Access workshops on fundraising, IP strategy, hardware development, regulatory navigation, and team building
- Culminate with Demo Day in Vienna — pitch to top European investors, corporates, and press
Who Should Apply
Technical founders working on hard problems in the physical world. You should apply if:
- You're an engineer, scientist, or technical builder with deep domain expertise
- You want to start a company that builds physical products or tackles physical-world problems
- You're at the very beginning — pre-idea, pre-team, or just getting started
- You're willing to commit six uninterrupted weeks to the program
- You have the ambition to build a generational company, not a quick exit
What Happens After
- Demo Day in Vienna — present your company to Europe's leading deep-tech investors
- Investor introductions — warm intros to funds that invest at pre-seed and seed in hard tech
- Lifetime community — permanent membership in the Alpine Valley network of founders, mentors, and supporters
- Ongoing support — continued access to mentors, resources, and follow-on programming

Why This Matters
Europe produces extraordinary scientists and engineers. But too many of them end up in corporate R&D labs or leave for the US because there's no infrastructure to support ambitious company-building at the earliest stage. Alpine Valley exists to fix that gap.
We believe the next generation of world-changing companies — the ones that cure diseases, build sustainable cities, explore space, and defend democracies — will be built by founders who need a launchpad, not a lecture hall. A place that gives them time, space, community, and momentum. That's what we built.
